Ghost Girl
I made this for Inktober 2018 using india ink and Pentel water brushes.
I credit this piece with being the first turning point in my own unique style. In October 2018, I was experiencing an artistic identity crisis! Nothing I made seemed to have the same sense of achievement or growth. I desired to discover my own definitive style, which is why I started doing a ton of research! I sought to expand my knowledge of other artists, the varying artistic processes, as well as seek to find what characteristics and techniques with which resonated with me the most.
To name a few, I was inspired by the artworks of Koyamori, Frannerd , Leigh Ellexson, Sha’an d’Anthes, Oliver Jeffers, and many more amazing artists! (Please go check them out if you have some time! I get lost in the bliss of scrolling through their Instagrams or websites!)
And it’s this feeling of excitement and unequivocal joy that I want my work to exude as well! I want to bring that same happiness to others!
This is why my artistic journey has become so very important to me and why this piece in particular is so meaningful to me. It was the start of my own quest to discover who I am as an artist.
